Memorials

Friends and family often choose to give a memorial gift to honor someone.  In some cases, funds have been combined to purchase specific items for the House and grounds such as the flag pole, yard sign, period lighting fixtures in the dining room and kitchen and display items with restoration.

The Society appreciates being designated as a possible recipient of memorial contributions at the time of a funeral. Persons may also choose to donate money toward a specific purpose such as the planting of a tree or special shrub to add to the long lasting appearance of the grounds.  Monetary gifts are tax-deductible.

Acknowledgement will be sent to the honorees family and a page will be prepared for our Memorials and Honorariums Book.

Please complete the Memorial Gifts Form and mail gifts to:

Brick Walkway

A brick is the perfect way to leave a permanent legacy while supporting the Urbandale Historical Society.  The bricks are used to complete the walkway leading up to the front entrance of the Olmsted-Urban House.  You can purchase a brick to honor family members, community groups, club honorees, retired teachers, citizens of the year, community leaders; the possibilities are endless. Standard 4x8 bricks can be purchased for $100.  Inscription allows for up to three lines using a maximum of 20 characters per line.  Bricks are placed twice a year, once in the summer and once in the fall. Deadlines to order are March 31 and August 31.

If you do not wish to have the brick installed in the walk, you may keep the brick you order for a family memento.

Next time you visit the Olmsted-Urban House, enjoy taking the walk of history and get ideas for a brick to honor your family, and add to Urbandale history and trivia.

Thank you for your support in preserving Urbandale's History
